Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.
I love to buy things and try to use them until I find something that works. Here's a list of all the things I currently use and recommend.
Workstation
16” MacBook Pro, M1 Max, 64GB RAM (2021)
I was using an M1 13” MacBook Pro prior to this and the difference is night and day. I've never heard the fans turn on a single time, even under the incredibly heavy loads I put it through with our various launch simulations.
LG 49WQ95C-W 49” 1440p 144Hz Curved Ultrawide Monitor
I've been using two 27" 1440p monitors for a long time, but I switched to a 49" ultrawide like three weeks ago and it's been a game changer. It's like two 27" monitors in one, and what really makes the difference is that you can use the middle section.
Samsung Odyssey G50A 27” 1440p 165Hz G-Sync Curved Gaming Monitor
I have to be honest, I don't need this monitor's 165Hz refresh rate, but I was playing Warzone in my free time and I wanted to have a competitive advantage. I'm still suck at the game, but I feel like I see the world differently now, and the combination with the 49" ultrawide is amazing.
Moonlander Mark I Mechanical Keyboard
When I started working remotely, I was using a Magic Keyboard and a Magic Trackpad. I quickly learned that I was putting more strain on my wrists and neck, and I was not as productive. I bought the Moonlander Mark I and even if it was not a cheap keyboard, it was the best $365 I've spent on myself. The downside is that it took me like three months to get used to it.
Logitech MX Master 3 Mouse
I've been using the MX Master 3 for a long time and it's still the best mouse I've ever used.
Logitech Brio Webcam
I've been using the Logitech Brio and it has a great relationship between price and quality.
Logitech Litra Glow Smart LED Desk Light
I've been using the Logitech Litra Glow Smart LED Desk Light and it's great for calls and video recordings.
Apple AirPods Pro
Their are great, and beautiful. But I can't say that they are the best headphones I've ever used. The Sony WH-1000XM3 are more or less the same and are way cheaper.
Development tools
Cursor
I've been using Cursor for a long time and it's still the best AI assistant for writing code. I'm a vim user, so I don't like using IDEs, but Cursor is integration with AI is something that is hard to beat.
Warp Terminal
I've been using Warp Terminal and for me, that is what I'm not good at remembering commands it has saved me a lot of time.
LazyVim
LazyVim is a community-driven plugin for Neovim that makes it easy to get started with a modern and powerful development environment. I'm still using Neovim when I can and LazyVim makes it even better.
